Timberborn's style is described as LumberPunk , and it's easy to understand why. The game takes place as a result of an apocalyptic event that has destroyed humans on the planet. In a desert sorry, an animal species reigns as master: the beavers! Thanks to the irrigation, the construction of dams and the construction of cities, the beavers have reconquered the world and endure the deadly environments that surround them. There are two playable beaves factions: the folktails in love with nature or industrials.

Developing on both factions, the Chief Designer of Timberborn, Bartlomiej Dawidow, said: The two beavers play completely differently, but both make good use of Timberborn's unique vision on the kind of cities construction - Here, the engineering of the water with the dams and the physics of the water dictates the success. As we expect from a game of beaver, the wood industry is also a key player, but it is not just sawmills and huts - the colonies of Timberborn grow vertically, layer by layer , with platforms and bridges. Finally, there is the post-apocalyptic aspect with an underlying threat of deadly droughts that strike stronger, threatening to reclaim the lands of castors.
